When Abby takes the kids and Po Po back to Hong Kong for vacation, she ends up, once again, in the middle of a murder investigation. As if that weren’t enough to ruin the visit, Abby learns new and troubling information that could end up tearing her family apart.
Kowloon Bay is the 6th Abby Kane thriller by Ty Hutchinson. FBI Agent Abby Kane is a strong, determined woman, trying to do her job and raise the stepchildren that were left in her care after the murder of her husband. Her mother-in-law, Po Po, lives with her and helps with the kids.
As in all of Mr. Hutchinsons’ books, strong lead characters, unusual/exotic locations, and food are at the heart of the story. Abby Kane happens to be my favorite character, as she is equal parts ruthless agent and everyday mom. Having read all of the books, I am very familiar with her character and that of her "family" and learning more about her families past in Kowloon Bay was both satisfying and surprising. Never seen it coming!
Mr. Hutchinson is my favorite mystery/thriller writer, and this book is no exception. If anything, Kowloon Bay, with its surprises, is one of his best works yet. No matter which series, if you are a fan of this genre, do yourself a favor and pick up his books. I cannot wait to find out what happens to Abby next.
