Born Mobster is a daunting 481 page story of pain and violence, following Tony Bruno as he grows up amidst abuse and power. Tony is a character in her other novels, and this gave her dedicated readers the back story.
I’ve read Ms. Dearth’s books prior, and she has an unapologetic writing style that reflects her own pain in dealing with abuse. I applaud Ms. Dearth for her ability to write and heal her past, however, I must caution that some survivors of abuse would have a hard time reading this book. It is especially graphic in parts and I found myself disgusted by some of the acts committed. Please use caution if you are prone to triggers.
